Radish, Raphanus sativus, is an herbaceous annual or biennial plant in the family Brassicaceae, grown for its edible taproot. The top leaves of the plant are smaller and lance-like. The reddish brown seeds are oval, and slightly flattened. Radish is generally grown as an annual plant, surviving only one growing season and can reach 20–100 cm (8–39 in) in height depending on the variety. Radish may also be referred to by the name of the cultivar and names may include Chinese radish, Japanese radish or oriental radish. The origin of the radish plant has not been determined but they are found growing native from the Mediterranean to the Caspian Sea.
Grow It Yourself:
Get your Planting Trays or Pots ready. Use good Seed Starting Mix or Cocopeat or Potting Mix. Moisten the mix and plant the seed 3 times its size deeper in the mix. For example if the seed is 1 mm , then plant it 3 mm deep in the mix. Very small seeds can be sprinkled on top of the mix and covered with a very thin layer of mix. Spray the mix with water and cover with a plastic cover till you see germination. remove cover and keep in semi-shade location till seedling is 3 -4 inchs, then transplant seedling or move your pot in Sunny location.
